How much does a brake job cost in Bloomsburg, PA?
Pads on one axle start at $145 and pads with rotors at $245 for most cars. The useful answer is what moves that number — and how to stop it moving.
Brake prices vary so much between shops because “a brake job” is not one thing. It can mean pads on one axle, pads and rotors on both, or a seized caliper and a rusted line on top. Two quotes for “brakes” can describe completely different work.
Below are our fitted prices — parts, labour and a road test included — by vehicle type. They are “from” prices because a Civic and an F-250 do not use the same parts, but the quote you get before any work starts is the price you pay.

- Waiting until it grindsGrinding means the pad is gone and steel is cutting the rotor. On most cars that turns a $145 pads job into a $245 pads-and-rotors job.
- A seized caliperA caliper that will not release has to be fixed before new pads go on — from $175 each fitted.
- RustRotors rusted onto hubs, bleeder screws that snap and hard lines that crumble all add time. Around here, salt is the biggest single cost driver.
- The vehicleHeavy-duty trucks use bigger, dearer parts, and electronic parking brakes need a scan tool to service.
- How it is drivenTowing, hauling and long descents call for semi-metallic pads or slotted rotors, which cost a little more and last longer under load.

Act on the squeal
The wear indicator gives you weeks of warning. A free inspection then usually means a pads-only job.

Change the fluid
Every two to three years, or as your manual says. Wet fluid corrodes calipers from the inside.

Keep it moving
Vehicles that sit for months rust their rotors and seize their calipers. Regular short drives help.

Ask for numbers
Pad and rotor thickness in millimetres, not “they’re getting low”. If nobody can show you a measurement, get a second opinion.

- One axle, or front and rear?
- New hardware and clips, or the old ones reused?
- Slide pins cleaned and greased?
- Rotors measured — and can they show you the reading?
- A bed-in road test before handover?
- Any travel fee, shop fee or disposal charge on top?

Why do some places advertise brakes for much less?
A very low headline price is usually pads only, on one axle, with the old hardware reused — and the rotors get added once the wheel is off. Ask what is included before comparing numbers.
Is it cheaper to do pads and rotors at the same time?
Only if the rotors actually need it. If they measure below their minimum, doing both together saves paying for the same labour twice. If they measure fine, pads alone — from $145 an axle for most cars — is the cheaper, correct job.
Do you beat other quotes?
Bring a written quote from another shop for the same parts and the same work. If we cannot beat it, we will tell you to take the other quote.
Does mobile brake repair cost more?
The work is the same price. Mobile adds your zone’s travel fee — nothing in Bloomsburg and the towns right around it, $25 in Zone 2, $45 in Zone 3 — charged per visit, with a $95 minimum call-out.
